Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6, 2006 Chevrolet Uplander, and 2006 Buick Terraza. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT: special anti-seize compound is used on the HO2S threads. The compound consists of liquid graphite and glass beads. The graphite tends to burn away, but the glass beads remain, making the sensor easier to remove. New or service replacement sensors already have the compound applied to the threads. If the sensor is removed from an exhaust component and if for any reason the sensor is to be reinstalled, the threads must have anti-seize compound applied before reinstallation.
  1. If re-installing the old sensor, coat the threads with anti-seize compound P/N 12377953 or equivalent.

  2. Install the HO2S to the catalytic converter, if equipped with AWD.

    Tighten:   Tighten the ECT sensor to 42 Nm (31 lb ft).

  3. Install the HO2S to the catalytic converter, if equipped with FWD.

    Tighten:   Tighten the ECT sensor to 42 Nm (31 lb ft).

  4. Connect the engine harness electrical connector to the HO2S connector.
  5. Install the CPA retainer. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Install intake manifold cover. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD COVER REPLACEMENT .
