Test Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6, 2006 Chevrolet Uplander, and 2006 Buick Terraza. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. 3:  Inspect the PPS to verify the correct part number was installed in the vehicle.
  2. 5:  This test checks the PPS data communications circuit for an open or high resistance.

1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information
2 Was the passenger presence system (PPS) replaced? Go to Step 3  Go to Step 4 
3  Inspect the PPS to verify that the correct part number was installed in the vehicle.
Was the correct PPS part number installed in the vehicle?		 Go to Step 4  Go to Step 6 
4 Was the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) replaced? Go to Step 5  Go to Step 6 
5  Inspect the SDM to ensure that the correct part number was installed in the vehicle.
Was the correct SDM part number installed in the vehicle?		 Go to Step 6  Go to Step 8

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
    2. IMPORTANT: The PPS is a calibrated system. The PPS must be rezero after replacement.
  2. Replace the PPS. The PPS is only serviceable as a PPS and seat bottom foam assembly. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup and programming.
Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 7  -

  1. Reconnect all SIR and PPS components.
  2. Verify that all components, connectors and connector position assurances (CPAs) are properly mounted.
  3. Use the scan tool in order to clear the SIR and PPS DTCs.
  4. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the text.
Does the DTC reset?		 Go to Step 8  System OK

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Replace the SDM. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup and programming.
Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 9  -

  1. Reconnect all SIR and PPS components.
  2. Verify that all components, connectors and CPAs are properly mounted.
  3. Use the scan tool in order to clear the SIR and PPS DTCs.
  4. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the text.
Does the DTC reset?		 Go to Step 2  System OK
