Power Door Locks Inoperative - Passenger Door

DEFINITION: This test checks the RF door lock switch, the front passenger, LR, RR and liftgate door lock actuators and their associated circuits.
1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information
2 Verify that the passenger door power door locks inoperative fault is present.
Do the passenger door locks operate normally?
Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 3 
3 Are all of the passenger door locks inoperative? Go to Step 6  Go to Step 4 
4 Are both the lock and unlock functions inoperative? Go to Step 7  Go to Step 5 
5 Is the lock function the inoperative function? Go to Step 8  Go to Step 9 
6 Test the door lock actuator unlock control circuit of the body control module (BCM) for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 15 
7 Test the ground circuit of the right front (RF) door lock switch for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 10 
8 Test the door lock control circuit of the RF door lock switch for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 16 
9 Test the door unlock control circuit of the RF door lock switch for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 16

  1. Disconnect the BCM C1 harness connector.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the door lock actuator lock control circuit pin of the BCM and the door lock actuator unlock control circuit pin of the BCM.
  4. Activate the RF door lock switch to the LOCK and UNLOCK positions.
Did the test lamp illuminate in both positions?
Go to Step 11  Go to Step 15 
11 Is the inoperative door lock a sliding door? Go to Step 12  Go to Step 13

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect the BCM C1 harness connector.
  3. Disconnect the appropriate sliding door lock switch plate harness connectors.
  4. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the door lock actuator lock control circuit of the pillar mounted striker harness connector and the door lock actuator lock control circuit of the door mounted plunger harness connector.
  5. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the door lock actuator unlock control circuit of the pillar mounted striker harness connector and the door lock actuator unlock control circuit of the door mounted plunger harness connector.
  6. Disconnect the appropriate sliding door lock actuator harness connector.
  7. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  8. Connect a test lamp between the door lock actuator lock control circuit of the appropriate sliding door lock actuator harness connector and the door lock actuator unlock control circuit of the appropriate sliding door lock actuator harness connector.
  9. Activate the RF door lock switch to the LOCK and UNLOCK positions.
Did the test lamp illuminate in both positions?
Go to Step 17  Go to Step 13 
13 Test the door lock actuator lock control circuit of the appropriate door lock actuator for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 14 
14 Test the door lock actuator unlock control circuit of the appropriate door lock actuator for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 18 
15 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 19 
16 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the RF door lock switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 20 
17 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the appropriate sliding door lock switch plate. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 21 
18 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the appropriate door lock actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 23  Go to Step 22 
19 Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup and programming.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 23  -
20 Replace the RF door lock switch. Refer to Power Door Lock Switch Replacement - Passenger Front .
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 23  -
21 Replace the appropriate sliding door lock switch plate. Refer to Contact Plate Replacement - Sliding Door Jamb .
Did you complete the replacement?

22 Replace the appropriate door lock actuator. Refer to the following:

23 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
