Power Sliding Door (PSD) System Controls

The power sliding door (PSD) can be operated by any of the following means:

Manual operation of the PSD, using either the exterior or interior PSD handle.
A keyless entry transmission
The right or left PSD overhead console open/close switches, provided that the PSD enable switches are active.
The right or left PSD B-pillar open/close switches, provided that the PSD enable switches are active.

The PSD will operate from the B-pillar and overhead console open/close switches only when the PSD system enable switch in the overhead console is active. At anytime during PSD operation, the enable switch may be activated to the off position and the system will quit any function in process. The PSD will not open unless the vehicle gear selector is in the park position and the PSD is unlocked. When the sliding door security lock is in the locked position the PSD will not open from the inside. However the PSD close function will operate when the vehicle is not in park to allow the door to close. The momentum of the vehicle moving forward adds resistance to the door closing operation. When the power sliding door control module (PSDM) determines the vehicle is moving forward while closing the door, current flow through the actuator motor is increased instead of being reversed. The sliding door alarm will sound repeated short tones whenever the PSD system is enabled and the door is open while the vehicle is out of park.

When the PSD system is enabled and manual operation of the PSD is detected, the PSDM activates the power assist feature. When the power assist is activated the PSD will continue to open or close without any further manual effort.

The PSD may be operated using the remote keyless entry (RKE) system, regardless of the status of the system enable switch. The keyless entry transmitter will have one OPEN/CLOSE button with a van symbol on it for each PSD. When a right hand PSD OPEN/CLOSE function is activated using a keyless entry transmitter, the exterior lights will flash once indicating the RKE module has received the OPEN/CLOSE command. When activating a left hand PSD OPEN/CLOSE function with the keyless entry transmitter, the exterior lights will not flash.
