Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Buick LaCrosse and 2006 Buick Allure. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the drive belts. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L26) .
  3. Remove the splash shield from the right side of the engine. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Engine in Body Front End.
  4. Remove the hose nut from the A/C compressor.
  5. Remove the hose from the A/C compressor.
    IMPORTANT: Remove and discard all sealing washers.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C compressor.

  7. Loosen the rear mounting bolt from the A/C compressor.
  8. Remove the front mounting bolt from the A/C compressor.
  9. Remove the front mounting nut from the A/C compressor.
  10. Remove the A/C compressor.
    11. IMPORTANT: Replacement compressors are shipped with polyalkylene glycol (PAG) oil
  11. If replacing the compressor, balance the compressor oil. Refer to Compressor Oil Balancing .
