Change Oil Soon

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the CHANGE OIL SOON message in the DIC when the PCM/ECM determines that the engine oil life is less than 5 percent. The PCM/ECM sends a class 2 message to the IPC requesting the display of the CHANGE OIL MESSAGE in the DIC. After the oil is changed, reset the engine oil monitor. Refer to Driver Information Center (DIC) Description and Operation  in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console or to GM Oil Life System - Resetting in Maintenance and Lubrication.
