Engine Oil Life Index

The engine control module (ECM) sends the engine oil life remaining percentage via GMLAN message to the IPC for display. When the ECM detects that the oil life remaining percentage has dropped below 5 percent, it sends the IPC a GMLAN message to display CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON. When the engine oil is changed, reset the GM Oil Life System. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting .
