Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Buick LaCrosse and 2008 Buick Allure. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Low Washer Fluid Indicator Inoperative
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the windshield washer fluid level switch.
- Ignition ON, verify that the DIC displays the Washer Fluid Level Low message.
- If the message is not displayed, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the instrument panel cluster.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the windshield washer fluid level switch.
Low Washer Fluid Indicator Always On
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the windshield washer fluid level switch.
- Ignition OFF, test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit terminal B and ground.
- If greater than 1.0 ohm, repair the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal A and ground.
- Ignition ON, verify the Washer Fluid Level Low message is not displayed.
- If the Washer Fluid Level Low message is displayed, test the signal circuit for an open high/resistance. If the circuit test normal, replace the IPC.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the windshield washer fluid level switch.
