Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26, LY7 GE 47716 Fill)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26 Static Fill)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LY7 Static Fill)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 GE47716 Fill)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 Static Fill) .
  2. Remove the battery and battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (LY7) or Battery Tray Replacement (L26) or Battery Tray Replacement (LS4) .
  3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory .
  4. Remove the water pump bolts (318).
  5. Remove the water pump (300) and gasket (314). Discard the gasket.
  6. Clean and inspect the water pump gasket mating surfaces.
