Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Buick LaCrosse and 2008 Buick Allure. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Assemble the heater pipes and hoses to the thermostat housing.
  2. Install a new gasket to the thermostat housing.
  3. Install the thermostat housing bolts to the thermostat housing.

    Partially install the thermostat housing bolts in order to retain the gasket.

  5. Install the thermostat housing with the heater pipes, heater hoses, gasket and bolts.
  6. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  7. Install the thermostat housing bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the thermostat housing bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  8. Install the thermostat. Refer to Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement (LY7)  or Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement (RPOs L26/L32)  or Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement (LS4) .
  9. Connect the heater hoses to the heater core. Refer to Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LY7) or Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (L26) or Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LS4) or Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LY7) or Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (L26) or Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LS4) .
