Rear Brake Rotor Replacement

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the rear brake caliper mounting bracket. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement .
1 Rotor Retention Screw
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten:  14 N.m (124 lb in)

2 Brake Rotor

Procedure

  1. If removing the rotor to service the brake system, mark the relationship of the rotor to the wheel stud for proper installation.
  2. Using the J 41013  , clean the contact area of the brake rotor and the wheel bearing/hub if the rotor is to be reused. See Special Tools .
  3. Using the J 42450-A  , remove the rust and dirt from the contact area of the wheel bearing/hub if replacing the rotor. See Special Tools .
  4. Inspect the assembled lateral runout (LRO). Refer to Brake Rotor Assembled Lateral Runout Correction .
  5. Check park brake operation. Adjust only if needed. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment (L26 and L32) .
