Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Buick LaCrosse and 2008 Buick Allure. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install the vacuum power brake booster.
  2. Press the vacuum power brake booster locking tab (1) while rotating the J 22805-B  (2) clockwise. See Special Tools .

    Ensure the locking tab is fully engaged in the vacuum brake booster mounting plate.

  3. Remove the J 22805-B  from the vacuum power brake booster and discard the master cylinder nuts. See Special Tools .

  4. Install the master cylinder to the vacuum power brake booster.
    5. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  5. Install new master cylinder nuts (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).

  6. Install the vacuum power brake pushrod (1) to the brake pedal pin.

  7. Install the vacuum power brake booster pushrod bushing (1).

  8. Install the vacuum power brake booster pushrod nut (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 13 N.m (115 lb in).

  9. Install the left side instrument panel insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .

  10. Connect the vacuum power brake booster check valve and hose assembly (1).
  11. Connect the vacuum power brake booster vacuum sensor electrical connector.
  12. Install the exhaust crossover pipe. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (3.6L) or Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (3.8L) .
  13. Install the BPMV bracket. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Replacement .
  14. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  15. Install the upper intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement .
