Circuit/System Testing

IMPORTANT:
You must perform the Circuit/System Verification before proceeding with Circuit/System Testing.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the ignition switch connector.
- Perform the ignition switch component test. The test should pass.
- If the ignition switch fails, replace the ignition switch.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect harness connector X1 of the BCM.
- Ignition ON, test for less than 1.0 volt between the BCM circuits listed below and ground:
- 12 volt reference terminal 25
- Crank voltage terminal 21
- Ignition 1 voltage terminal 22
- Ignition 3 voltage terminal 23
- If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage.
- Remove the IGN 1 Relay.
- Test for infinite resistance between the BCM circuits listed below and ground:
- 12-volt reference, terminal 25
- Crank voltage, terminal 21
- Ignition 1, voltage, terminal 22
- Ignition 3 voltage, terminal 23
- Ignition 1 voltage, terminal 3
- If less than the specified value, test the circuit for a short to ground.
- Test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the BCM and ignition switch on the following circuits:
- 12-volt reference, BCM terminal 25 and ignition switch terminal 4
- 12-volt reference, BCM terminal 25 and ignition switch terminal 6
- Crank voltage, BCM terminal 21 and ignition switch terminal 5
- Ignition 1 voltage, BCM terminal 22 and ignition switch terminal 7
- Ignition 3 voltage, BCM terminal 23 and ignition switch terminal 3
- If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for open/high resistance
- If all circuits test normal, replace the BCM.
IMPORTANT:
The ignition switch component test must be preformed before proceeding with this test to verify the integrity of the switch.
