Power Steering Cooler Pipe/Hose Replacement (LS4)

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the front tire/wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  2. Remove the right fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement .
  3. Lower the rear of the frame approximately 51 mm (2 in). Refer to Frame Replacement .
  4. Loosen the power steering gear bolts. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .
  5. Fill and bleed the power steering system after the repair has been completed. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
1 Power Steering Cooler Pipe
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Procedure

  1. Remove as much power steering fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
  2. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
  3. Disconnect the power steering cooler pipe from the power steering fluid reservoir.
  4. Disconnect all power steering cooler pipe retaining clips as needed with an appropriate tool. Replace any as needed.
  5. Disconnect the power steering cooler pipe fitting.
  6. After repairs, fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Tighten:  27 N.m (20 lb ft)
