Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (L26)  or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LY7)  or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LS4) .
  2. Remove the torque struts and rotate the engine in order to provide access to remove the generator. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Left Side and Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Right Side in Engine Mechanical - 3.6L (LY7).

  4. Remove the generator B+ terminal nut and the battery cable from the generator.

  6. Disconnect the generator electrical connector.
  7. Remove the drive belt from the generator. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.6L (LY7).
  8. Remove the idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.6L (LY7).

  10. Remove the generator bolts.
  11. Remove the generator from the vehicle.
