Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connectors at the ECM.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1.0 ohm between the ground circuits to ground.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, measure between the Ignition 1 circuits and the ground circuits. The readings should not differ by more than 2 volts than the battery terminal voltage.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the Ignition 1 circuits for an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal replace the ECM.
      • Ignition 1 signal 3.6L engine X2 terminals 1- 3- 17- 58.
      • Ground circuit 3.6L engine X1 terminal 49.
      • Ignition 1 signal 5.3L engine X1 terminal 19 and X2 terminal 13
      • Ground circuit 5.3L engine X2 terminal 73
  4. If the circuits test normal replace the ECM.
