Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
  1. Open and support the hood.
  2. Use a small flat-bladed tool to lift up the retainer clips on the assist rod.

    NOTE: Refer to LIFTGATE ASSIST ROD NOTICE .
  4. Remove the upper end of the assist rod from the ball joint on the hood.
  5. Remove the lower end of the assist rod from the ball joint on the lower hood hinge.
