Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution .
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the SIR coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement .

  4. Remove the bearing retainer using J 23653-SIR  and J 42137  and dispose of it. See Special Tools .
  5. Remove J 23653-SIR  and J 42137  from the steering shaft assembly. See Special Tools .

  7. Remove the shaft lock shield assembly (1).
  8. Remove the turn signal cancel cam assembly (2).
  9. Remove the upper bearing spring (3).
  10. Remove the upper bearing inner race seat (4).
  11. Remove the inner race (5).
