Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Buick LaCrosse and 2008 Buick Allure. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the intermediate shaft seal over the intermediate shaft from inside the vehicle.
  2. Connect the intermediate shaft to the steering column as noted during removal.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  3. Install the upper intermediate shaft pinch bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 48 N.m (35 lb ft).

  4. Install the intermediate shaft seal bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the intermediate shaft seal bolts to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

  5. Connect the intermediate shaft seal to the steering column.

    IMPORTANT: Rotate the lower seal in order to obtain proper shaft to seal clearance.
  6. Connect the lower intermediate shaft seal to the steering gear.
