Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Buick LaCrosse and 2008 Buick Allure. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the engine oil pressure (EOP) sensor.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the low reference circuit terminal A and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit terminal A for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the engine control module (ECM).
  3. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 volts between the 5-volt reference circuit terminal B and the low reference circuit terminal A.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit terminal B for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
  4. Install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal C and the low reference circuit terminal A. Verify the scan tool Engine Oil Pressure Sensor parameter is less than 8 kPa (1.2 psi).
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit terminal C for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the EOP sensor.
