Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Buick LaCrosse and 2008 Buick Allure. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the engine oil pressure (EOP) sensor.
  2. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 volts between the 5-volt reference circuit terminal B and ground.
    • If less than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit terminal B for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the engine control module (ECM).
  3. Install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal C and the 5-volt reference circuit terminal B. Verify the scan tool Engine Oil Pressure Sensor parameter is greater than 550 kPa (80 psi).
    • If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit terminal C for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
  4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the EOP sensor.
