Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Buick LaCrosse and 2008 Buick Allure. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the electronic compass module.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit terminal 14 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit terminal 14 for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates when connected between the ignition 1 voltage circuit terminal 13 and the ground circuit terminal 14.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition 1 voltage circuit terminal 13 for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  4. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the IPC.
  5. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the compass sensor feed terminal 12 and 19.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the compass sensor feed for an open/high resistance.
  6. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the compass sensor return terminal 11 and 18.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the compass sensor feed for an open/high resistance.
  7. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the electronic compass module.
