Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Buick LaCrosse and 2008 Buick Allure. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the electronic compass module.
- Ignition OFF, test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit terminal 14 and ground.
- If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates when connected between the ignition 1 voltage circuit terminal 13 and ground circuit terminal 14.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition 1 voltage circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify a test lamp does not illuminate when connected between the compass sensor feed terminal 12 and the ignition 1 voltage circuit terminal 13.
- If the test lamp illuminates, test the compass sensor feed terminal 12 for short to ground.
- Ignition ON, verify a test lamp does not illuminate when connected between the compass sensor return terminal 11 and the ignition 1 voltage circuit terminal 13.
- If the test lamp illuminates, test the compass sensor return terminal 11 for a short to ground.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the electronic compass module.
