Driver Information Center (DIC) Description and Operation: Compass

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the vehicle compass heading in the driver information center (DIC). The internal fault detection of the electronic compass module is handled by the instrument panel cluster (IPC). The compass information is sent to the IPC via 2 discreet inputs from the external electronic compass module. The DIC displays 2 dashes (- -) when the IPC looses connection with the electronic compass module. For compass calibrations and zones refer to: Electronic Compass Calibration .
