Instrument Panel (I/P) Carrier Trim Cover Replacement 

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
  2. Remove the I/P insulators. Refer to Knee Bolster, Insulator, Molding Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  3. Remove the I/P compartment assembly. Refer to Compartment Assembly, Door, Striker, Latch Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  4. Remove the I/P driver knee bolster assembly. Refer to Knee Bolster, Insulator, Molding Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  5. Remove the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Accessory Trim Plate, Driver Information Display Switch Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  6. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement .
  7. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .
  8. Remove the driver information center. Refer to Accessory Trim Plate, Driver Information Display Switch Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  9. Remove the center I/P A/C outlets. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Air Outlet Ducts Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  10. Remove the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Cluster, Cluster Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  11. Remove the I/P lower trim molding. Refer to Knee Bolster, Insulator, Molding Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  12. Remove the I/P steering column opening moldings. Refer to Knee Bolster, Insulator, Molding Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  13. Remove the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to Upper Trim Pad, Outer Trim Cover, Fuse Block Access Cover Replacement - Instrument Panel .
1 Screw, I/P Carrier Trim Cover (Qty: 4)

Tighten:  2 N.m (18 lb in)

2 Screw, I/P Carrier Trim Cover (Qty: 3)

Tighten:  2 N.m (18 lb in)

3 Screw, I/P Carrier Trim Cover (Qty: 2)

Tighten:  2 N.m (18 lb in)

4 Screw, I/P Carrier Trim Cover (Qty: 3)

Tighten:  2 N.m (18 lb in)

5 Screw, I/P Carrier Trim Cover (Qty: 2)
Tip:  The two screws go up into the carrier cover, are located on each side of the passenger air bag module, and must be removed from inside of the I/P compartment opening.

Tighten:  2 N.m (18 lb in)

6 Screw, I/P Carrier Trim Cover (Qty: 2)
Tip:  The two screws go up into the carrier cover and can be removed from the center A/C outlet opening.

Tighten:  2 N.m (18 lb in)

I/P Lower Extension Accessory Trim Panel Replacement 

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
  2. Remove the I/P insulators. Refer to Knee Bolster, Insulator, Molding Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  3. Remove the I/P compartment assembly. Refer to Compartment Assembly, Door, Striker, Latch Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  4. Remove the I/P driver knee bolster assembly. Refer to Knee Bolster, Insulator, Molding Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  5. Remove the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Accessory Trim Plate, Driver Information Display Switch Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  6. Remove the I/P A/C outlets. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Air Outlet Ducts Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  7. Remove the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Cluster, Cluster Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  8. Remove the I/P lower trim molding. Refer to Knee Bolster, Insulator, Molding Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  9. Remove the I/P steering column opening moldings. Refer to Knee Bolster, Insulator, Molding Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  10. Remove the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to Upper Trim Pad, Outer Trim Cover, Fuse Block Access Cover Replacement - Instrument Panel .
  11. Remove the I/P cup holder opening cover. Refer to Cup Holder, Cup Holder Door Replacement - Front Floor Console .
1 Screw, I/P Carrier Trim Cover (Qty: 4)

Tighten:  2 N.m (18 lb in)

2 Screw, I/P Carrier Trim Cover (Qty: 3)

Tighten:  2 N.m (18 lb in)

3 Screw, I/P Carrier Trim Cover (Qty: 2)

Tighten:  2 N.m (18 lb in)

4 Screw, I/P Carrier Trim Cover (Qty: 3)

Tighten:  2 N.m (18 lb in)

5 Screw, I/P Carrier Trim Cover (Qty: 2)
Tip:  The two screws go up into the carrier cover, are located on each side of the passenger air bag module, and must be removed from inside of the I/P compartment opening.

Tighten:  2 N.m (18 lb in)

6 Screw, I/P Carrier Trim Cover (Qty: 2)
Tip:  The two screws go up into the carrier cover and can be removed from the center A/C outlet opening.

Tighten:  2 N.m (18 lb in)

7 Cover Assembly, I/P Carrier Trim
8 Screw, I/P Lower Extension Accessory Trim Panel (Qty: 4)

Tighten:  2 N.m (18 lb in)

9 Screw, I/P Lower Extension Accessory Trim Panel (Qty: 2)

Tighten:  2 N.m (18 lb in)

10 Panel Assembly, I/P Lower Extension Accessory Trim
