Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Buick Regal. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If replacing the supercharger install the following:
    • Manifold vacuum source
    • Supercharger bypass valve
    • PCV valve
    • Throttle body

  3. Install the new supercharger O-ring seals.

    IMPORTANT: Do not use any sealer on the gasket.
  5. Install the new supercharger gasket.
  6. Install the supercharger.
  7. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

  8. Install the right side supercharger bolts.

  10. Install the left side supercharger bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the supercharger bolts starting from the center and working to the outside of the supercharger to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).

  11. Install the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Intake Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
  12. Install the accelerator and the cruise control cables with the bracket to the throttle body. Refer to Accelerator Controls Cable Bracket Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
  13. Connect the electrical connectors to following:
    • Intake air temperature (IAT) sensor
    • Idle air control (IAC) valve
    • Throttle position (T/P) sensor
    • Mass air flow (MAF) sensor
    • EVAP purge valve
    • Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve
    • Supercharger bypass valve
  14. Connect the vacuum lines to the following:
    • Manifold vacuum source
    • Supercharger bypass valve
    • Supercharger
    • Fuel pressure regulator valve
  15. Install the boost control solenoid. Refer to Boost Control Solenoid Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.

  17. Install the fuel rail assembly. Refer to Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement (L36) or Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement (L67) in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
  18. Install the MAP sensor bracket. Refer to Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Replacement (L36) or Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Replacement (L67) in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
  19. Install the generator brace. Refer to Generator Brace Replacement (L36) or Generator Brace Replacement (L67) in Engine Electrical.
  20. Install the right spark plug wires to the ignition control module. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
  21. Install the supercharger drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L36)  or Drive Belt Replacement (L67) .

  23. Install the EGR valve heat shield, nut and the bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut and the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  24. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L36)  or Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L67) .
  25. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
  26. Inspect for fluid or vacuum leaks.
