Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L36) or Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L67) .
- Remove the right engine mount strut from the upper engine mount strut bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Right .
- Remove the lower engine mount strut bracket nut.
- Remove the lower engine mount strut bracket bolts and the bracket.
- Remove the EVAP emissions canister purge valve. Refer to Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement (L36) or Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement (L67) in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
- Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
- Remove the fuel rail assembly. Refer to Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement (L36) or Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement (L67) in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
- Remove the upper engine mount strut bracket bolts.
- Remove the upper engine mount strut bracket.
