Installation Procedure

  1. Install new sealing washers onto the A/C compressor hose assembly. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  2. Install the A/C compressor hose to the A/C compressor.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the A/C compressor.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  4. Install new seals washers to the A/C compressor hose assembly and evaporator tube. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .

  5. Install the A/C compressor hose to the evaporator tube.
  6. Install the A/C compressor hose to evaporator tube nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  7. Install the A/C compressor hose to the condenser.
  8. Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the condenser.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  9. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
  10. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  11. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A .
