Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Lubricate the seal lip with transaxle fluid.
  2. Install J 37292-B  in the seal (4). See Special Tools and Equipment .

  3. Use J 29130  to install the new seal (4). See Special Tools and Equipment .
  4. Remove the J 37292-B  . See Special Tools and Equipment .
    5. IMPORTANT: Carefully guide the axle shaft past the lip seal. Do NOT allow the shaft splines to contact any portion of the seal lip surface.
  5. Install the drive axle to the transaxle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.
  6. Install the right lower ball joint to the right steering knuckle. Refer to Steering Knuckle Replacement in Front Suspension.
  7. Install the right tie rod end to the right steering knuckle. Refer to Steering Knuckle Replacement in Front Suspension.
  8. Install the right stabilizer shaft link to the right stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement in Front Suspension.
  9. Install the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
    11. NOTE: Refer to Do Not Overfill the Transmission Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  11. Check and fill the transaxle fluid as necessary.
  12. Inspect for fluid leaks.
