Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Inoperative

Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Inoperative

This table is used for diagnosing accessories that will not operate when the RAP system commands a RAP power mode.
1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Retained Accessory Power? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Retained Accessory Power

IMPORTANT: Refer to Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Description and Operation  for a listing of accessories controlled by the RAP system.
  1. Close the driver and passenger doors.
  2. Turn ON the ignition for 5 seconds, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn OFF the ignition.
Can you operate all the accessories controlled by the RAP system during the RAP power mode?		 Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 3 
3 Can you operate the Power Windows and Power Sunroof, if equipped, during the RAP power mode? Go to Step 10  Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the RAP relay.
  2. Connect a test lamp to the RAP relay control circuit at the RAP relay socket.
  3. Close the driver and passenger doors.
  4. Turn ON the ignition for 5 seconds, with the engine OFF.
  5. Turn OFF the ignition.
Does the test lamp illuminate?		 Go to Step 6  Go to Step 5

  1. Test the RAP relay control circuit from the BCM to the RAP relay socket for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
  2. Test the battery supply control circuit to the RAP relay socket for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
  3. Test the RAP relay socket for the proper terminal tension. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 13  Go to Step 6 
6 Connect a test lamp between the RAP relay supply voltage circuit and the a good ground.
Does the test lamp illuminate?		 Go to Step 8  Go to Step 7 
7 Repair the open in the RAP relay supply voltage circuit.
Did you complete the repair?		 Go to Step 13  -
8 Test the RAP relay output circuit for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 13  Go to Step 9 
9 Replace the RAP relay.
Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 13  -
10 Is more than one accessory inoperative during the RAP power mode? Go to Step 13  Go to the system exhibiting the symptom.
11 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 13  Go to Step 12

IMPORTANT: Perform the set up procedure for the new BCM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.
Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 13  -
13 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?		 System OK Go to Step 2
