2	Apply the parking brake and block the wheels. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Attempt to move the shift lever out of the PARK position without pressing the brake pedal. 3	Turn OFF the ignition. Install a scan tool. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. With a scan tool, observe the shift lock control output in the body control module (BCM) data list. Does the scan tool display an ON status?	Go to Step 4	Go to Step 6
4	Ensure the brake pedal is released. With a scan tool, observe the brake switch input parameter in the body control module (BCM) input data list. Does the scan tool display an OFF status?	Go to Stop Lamps Inoperative in Lighting Systems	Go to Step 5
5	Ensure the shift lever is in the PARK position With a scan tool, observe the transmission gear parameter in the powertrain control module (PCM) input data list. 6	Turn OFF the ignition. Connect a test lamp between the shift lock solenoid control circuit at the shift lock control solenoid connector and a good ground. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Does the test lamp illuminate?	Go to Step 9	Go to Step 7
7	Turn OFF the ignition. Connect a test lamp between the shift lock solenoid control circuit and the shift lock control solenoid ground circuit at the shift lock control solenoid connector. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Does the test lamp illuminate?	Go to Step 10	Go to Step 12
