(1) Apply Sealant (1052080) to cylinder head bolts.
(2) Refer to TSB REVISED CYLINDER HEAD BOLT TORQUE SPECIFICATION AND TIGHTENING SEQUENCE . Tighten cylinder head bolts in sequence. See Figure.
(3) Apply Thread Locker (12345382) to flexplate/flywheel bolts.
(4) This procedure has been updated due to GM® Administrative Message #VSS20030024, dated 3/4/2003.
(5) Manufacturer recommends replacing lower intake manifold bolts with new ones that have a thread locking adhesive added. If reusing original bolts, clean bolt threads and apply Threadlocker (12345382) to bolt threads.
(6) Tighten the vertical lower intake manifold bolts (the four middle ones) to 7 N.m (62 lb in). Tighten the diagonal lower intake manifold bolts (two on each end) to 7 N.m (62 lb in). Tighten the vertical lower intake manifold bolts (the four middle ones) to 13 N.m (115 lb in). Tighten the diagonal lower intake manifold bolts (two on each end) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). See Figure.
(7) This specification has been updated due to GM® Service Manual Update 02-06-01-034, dated 10/16/2002.
