Test Y: Low TRAC Indicator Inoperative
- If Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If ABS diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform ABS diagnostic system check. See ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe ETS ACTIVE LIGHT parameter in ETS data list. If scan tool displays OFF, go to next step. If scan tool does not display OFF, go to step 4 .
- Observe LOW TRAC indicator. Turn ignition switch to OFF, then RUN position. If LOW TRAC indicator illuminates during displays test and then turns off, go to DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS . If LOW TRAC indicator does not illuminate during displays test, go to step 5 .
- Check for poor connections at Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) harness connector. EBCM is located behind left side of instrument panel, to left of steering column. If poor connections are not found, go to step 6 . If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 8 .
- Check for poor connections at Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) harness connector. If poor connections are not found, go to step 7 . If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 8 .
- Replace EBCM. See ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step 8 .
- Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system does not operate properly, go to step 2 . If system operates properly, system is okay.
