Test V: Low Tire Pressure Indicator Does Not Reset
NOTE:
Low Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) may also be referred to as low Tire Inflation Monitor (TIM).
- If tire pressure monitoring system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If tire pressure monitoring system diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform tire pressure monitoring system diagnostic system check. See TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe TIM RESET SWITCH parameter in Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) data list. Press TIRE RESET switch in instrument panel fuse block. Instrument panel fuse block is located behind right side instrument panel endcap. See Figure . If scan tool does not display ON when switch is pressed, go to next step. If scan tool displays ON when switch is pressed, go to DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Driver Information Center (DIC) harness connector. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between ground and DIC harness connector Orange wire terminal. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe TIM RESET SWITCH parameter in IPC data list. If scan tool does not display ON, go to next step. If scan tool displays ON, go to step 6 .
- Test Orange wire between DIC harness connector and IPC harness connector terminal B11 for an open or high resistance. See Figure . If an open or high resistance is not found, go to next step. If an open or high resistance is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 10
- Test Black wire between DIC harness connector and ground point G203 for an open or high resistance. Ground point G203 is located below instrument panel, to right of steering column. See GROUND DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. If an open or high resistance is not found, go to step 7 . If an open or high resistance is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 10 .
- Check for poor connections at DIC harness connector. If poor connections are not found, go to step 8 . If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 10 .
- Check for poor connections at IPC harness connector. If poor connections are not found, go to step 9 . If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 10 .
- Replace DIC. See DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to step 10
- Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system does not operate properly, go to step 2 . If system operates properly, system is okay.
