Intake Manifold (Lower): Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE . Drain cooling system. Remove coolant reservoir. Remove serpentine drive belt. Remove upper intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD (UPPER) . Disconnect fuel lines. Remove fuel rail.
  2. Disconnect coolant hoses as necessary. Remove power steering pump and position aside. Remove rocker arm covers. Remove bolts securing lower intake manifold to cylinder heads. See Figure. Remove lower intake manifold. If necessary, loosen rocker arms and remove push rods to remove gaskets.
