Diagnostic Aids

Use FREEZE FRAME and/or FAILURE RECORDS data in order to locate an intermittent condition. If DTC cannot be duplicated, information included in FREEZE FRAME and/or FAILURE RECORDS data may aid in determining number of miles since DTC set. FAIL COUNTER and PASS COUNTER can also aid in determining number of ignition cycles diagnostics reported a pass and/or fail. Operate vehicle within same freeze frame conditions (RPM, load, vehicle speed, temperature, etc.) to isolate when DTC failed. Wiggle wiring and harness connectors during test to check for intermittent malfunction. An intermittent malfunction could be caused by poor connector-to-component connections, poor connector-to-connector connections, connector terminal-to-wire connections, broken wire inside insulation and/or rubbed-through wiring insulation.
