SERVICE ENGINE SOON Indicator

Powertrain Control Module (PCM) illuminates SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator, also referred to as Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL), when one of the following occurs:

• PCM detects an emissions system malfunction.
• PCM performs displays test at start of each ignition cycle. MIL illuminates for approximately 3 seconds.
• Ignition switch is in RUN position, with engine off.
