Century & Regal
- If horns diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If horns diagnostic system check was not performed, see HORNS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK (CENTURY & REGAL) under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Press horn switch. If horns have a harsh tone or buzzing, go to next step. If horns do not have a harsh tone or buzzing, go to SYMPTOM TESTS .
- Ensure horn mounting hardware is tightened to 86 INCH lbs. (10 N.m). Check horns for debris in joint where horns attach to vehicle. If torque is within specification and no debris exists, go to next step. If torque is not within specification and/or any debris exists, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 7 .
- Disconnect horn connector. Connect a fused (15-amp) jumper wire between positive battery terminal and horn harness connector Dark Green wire terminal. Connect a second fused (15-amp) jumper wire between negative battery terminal and horn harness connector Black wire terminal. If horns do not have a harsh tone of buzzing, go to next step. If horns do not have a harsh tone or buzzing, go to step 6 .
- Repair open or high resistance in horn control circuit (Dark Green wire) or horn ground circuit (Black wire). After repair, go to step 7 .
- Replace horns. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate horn system to verify fault no longer exists. If fault still exists, go to step 1 .
