Circuit Description

BCM produces theft deterrent CRANK relay and fuel enable signal when ignition is ON and proper ignition code voltage value is detected. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors fuel enable signal during crank. If proper signal is present on Class 2 serial data link, PCM enables fuel delivery in order to allow engine to start. If PCM determines that fuel enable signal is not present or incorrect while engine is running, DTC P1626 will set. Engine continues to start and run as long as DTC P1626 is stored. If problem affects inputs to the vehicle theft deterrent signal, starter motor may be disabled.

A history DTC P1626 will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles if condition for setting DTC is no longer present. DTC will also clear when scan tool is used to clear DTCs.
