Inspection (Steering Shaft)

Inspect steering shaft for sheared plastic injections. See Figure . If plastic injections are sheared, replace steering shaft. Check steering shaft runout by installing a dial indicator at lower end of steering shaft, and then rotating steering wheel. If runout exceeds .063" (1.6 mm), replace steering shaft.
