DTC B1000: Instrument Panel Cluster Malfunction In Instrument Panel Control System: Testing

  1. If Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If IPC system diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform IPC system diagnostic system check. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, clear DTC B1000. Turn ignition switch to OFF, then RUN position. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If scan tool displays DTC B1000 as current, go to next step. If scan tool does not display DTC B1000 as current, system is okay.
  3. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reconnect any disconnected components and harness connectors. After repair, system is okay.
  4. Using scan tool, clear instrument panel cluster DTCs and retest for DTC. If DTC B1000 resets, replace instrument panel cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using scan tool, clear all DTCs. Recheck system operation.
