Turn Indicators Malfunctioning

  1. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check was not performed, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Connect scan tool. While observing right or left turn signal input, activate turn signal switch to right or left turn position. If scan display switches from OFF to ON, go to next step. If scan tool display does not switch from OFF to ON, see appropriate wiring diagram in EXTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  3. Remove IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check IPC harness connector for poor connection. Check turn signal indicator bulbs. Repair or replace as necessary. If no problem(s) is found, go to next step. If problem(s) is found, go to step  5 .
  4. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  5. Repair poor harness connections or replace turn signal indicator bulb(s) as necessary. After repair, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
