Low Engine Coolant Indicator Inoperative

NOTE: Use Connector Test Adapter Kit (J 35616-A) whenever a diagnostic procedure requires inspection or probing a terminal. Use adapter in order to ensure that no damage to terminal may occur. This will also ensure that contact tension is sufficient.
NOTE: To prevent any misdiagnosis, zero DVOM before taking any measurements.
  1. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check was not performed, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Is the LOW COOLANT indicator on with the coolant level low? If yes, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect engine coolant level indicator module connector. Turn ignition to RUN position. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper between engine coolant level indicator module connector terminal "B" and ground. Is the low coolant warning indicator on? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  7 .
  4. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper between the engine coolant level indicator module connector terminals "B" and "C". Is the low coolant warning indicator on? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  6 .
  5. Inspect for a poor connection at engine coolant level indicator module connector. If connection is okay, replace engine coolant level indicator module. Inspect the system. After repairs, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  6. Repair poor connection or open in CKT 1350 between engine coolant level indicator module harness connector terminal "C" and G101. Inspect system. After repairs, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  7. Inspect for poor connection or open in CKT 68. Did you find a poor connection or an open in CKT 68? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  9 .
  8. Repair poor connection or open in CKT 68. Inspect system. After repairs, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  9. Replace instrument cluster. After replacing cluster, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
