DTC B1015: VIN Information Error: Testing
- If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check was not performed, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Following scan tool manufacturer's instructions, go the SPECIAL FUNCTIONS menu. Observe BCM NEW VIN function. If correct information is displayed, go to next step. If incorrect information is displayed, go to step 4 .
- Using scan tool, observe VIN information in PCM ID information menu. If correct information is displayed, go to step 5 . If incorrect information is displayed, go to step 6 .
- Using scan tool. enter correct VIN information into BCM. See BCM PROGRAMMING in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. After repair, go to step 7 .
- Replace BCM. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. After repair, go to step 7 .
- Reprogram PCM. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. After repair, go to step 7 .
- Using scan tool, clear instrument panel cluster DTCs and retest for DTC . B1000. If DTC B1000 resets, return to step 2 . If DTC B1015 does not reset, system is okay. Recheck system operation.
