DTC B0608: Power MODING Malfunction (IGN/Crank Signal): Testing
- If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check was not performed, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument panel cluster Gray 24-pin harness connector. Turn ignition switch to ACCESSORY position. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal B12 (Pink wire). If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, go to step 4 .
- Repair short to voltage in Pink wire between instrument panel cluster connector terminal B12 and fuse block. Go to step 15 .
- Using test light connected to ground, backprobe instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal B12 (Pink wire). Turn ignition switch to ON position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 6 .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal A3 (Purple wire). If test light does not illuminate, go to step 7 . If test light illuminates, go to step 8 .
- Repair poor connection or open in Pink wire between instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal B12 and fuse block harness connector terminal D6. After repair, recheck system operation.
- Repair short to battery voltage in Purple wire between fuse block harness connector terminal A4 and instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal A3. After repair, recheck system operation.
- Using test light connected to ground, backprobe instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal A3 (Purple wire). Turn ignition switch to START position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 10 .
- Turn ignition switch to ACCESSORY position. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal A8 (Purple wire) If test light illuminates, go to step 12 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step 11 .
- Repair poor connection or open in Purple wire between instrument panel cluster connector terminal A3 and fuse block harness connector terminal A4. After repair, check system operation.
- Using test light connected to ground, backprobe instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal A8 (Purple wire). Turn ignition switch to ON then START positions. If test light illuminates in each position, go to step 13 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step 14 .
- Repair short to battery voltage in Purple wire between fuse block harness connector terminal A8 and instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal A8. After repair, recheck system operation.
- Replace instrument panel cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using scan tool, clear all DTCs. Recheck system operation.
- Repair open or poor connection in Purple wire between fuse block harness connector terminal A8 and instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal A8. After repair, recheck system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect all connectors and components. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recheck system operation.
