DTC B0602: Oscillator Malfunction: Testing

  1. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check was not performed, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Disconnect instrument panel cluster harness connector. Turn ignition switch to ACCESSORY position. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal A8 (Purple wire). If test light illuminated, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  4 .
  3. Repair short to battery voltage in Purple wire between fuse block harness connector terminal A8 and instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal A8. After repair, recheck system operation.
  4. Leave test light in same position. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  8 .
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal A3 (Purple wire). If test light illuminates, go to step  7 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step  8 .
  6. Repair open or poor connection in Purple wire between fuse block harness connector terminal A8 and instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal A8. After repair, recheck system operation.
  7. Repair short to battery voltage in Purple wire between fuse block harness connector terminal A4 and instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal A3. After repair, recheck system operation.
  8. Leave test light connected to ground and instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal A3 (Purple wire). Turn ignition switch to START position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  10 .
  9. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Using test light connected to ground, probe instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal B12 (Pink wire). If test light illuminates, go to step  12 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step  11 .
  10. Repair open or poor connection in Purple wire between fuse block harness connector terminal A4 and instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal A3. After repair, recheck system operation.
  11. Leave test light in same position. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If test light illuminates, go to step  13 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step  14 .
  12. Repair short to voltage in Pink wire between fuse block harness connector terminal D6 and instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal B12. After repair, recheck system operation. If problem still exists or wire is okay, go to next step.
  13. Replace instrument panel cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using scan tool, clear all DTCs. Recheck system operation.
  14. Repair open or poor connection in Pink wire between fuse block harness connector terminal D6 and instrument panel cluster harness connector terminal B12. After repair, recheck system operation.
  15. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reinstall all component and reconnect all harness connectors. Using scan tool, clear all DTCs. Recheck system operation.
