DTC B0570: Season Odometer Malfunction: Description
Instrument panel cluster receives a vehicle speed input from Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) to drive speedometer/odometer. Instrument panel cluster compares data from VSS with a 16-point look-up table to determine needle deflection. A smooth filter is used to allow continuous response.
Season odometer displays total accumulated mileage of vehicle, which is permanently stored in the instrument panel cluster EEPROM. Trip odometer displays accumulated mileage (in tenths of miles) since last reset. This information is stored in the instrument panel Keep Alive Memory (KAM).
DTC B0570 will set when instrument panel cluster detects an internal fault to speedometer/odometer which is not caused by an external source. When DTC B0570 is set, odometer will display ERROR.
Under all fault conditions, a current DTC B0570 requires an ignition cycle to become a history code. If conditions for malfunction no longer exist, history DTC will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles. DTC B0570 will also clear when scan tool is used to clear codes.
