Low Wash Indicator Is Inoperative Or Inaccurate

NOTE: To prevent any misdiagnosis, zero DVOM before taking any measurements.
  1. If LOW WASH indicator illuminates when washer fluid level is okay, go to step  3 . If LOW WASH indicator does not illuminate when washer fluid level is okay, go to next step.
  2. If LOW WASH indicator does not illuminate when washer fluid level is low, go to step  8 . If LOW WASH indicator illuminates when washer fluid level is low, system is operating properly.
  3. Disconnect windshield washer fluid level switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If LOW WASH indicator illuminates, go to step  5 . If LOW WASH indicator does not illuminate, go to next step.
  4. Replace windshield washer fluid level switch. Recheck system operation.
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster Gray 24-pin connector. Using DVOM, check resistance between instrument cluster harness connector terminal A4 (Black/White wire) and ground. If resistance is 0-3 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 0-3 ohms, go to step  7 .
  6. Repair short to ground in Black/White wire between instrument cluster and windshield washer fluid level switch. Recheck system operation.
  7. Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
  8. Disconnect windshield washer fluid level switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between windshield washer fluid level switch harness connector terminal "A" (Black/White wire) and ground. If LOW WASH indicator illuminates, go to next step. If LOW WASH indicator does not illuminate, go to step  11 .
  9. Ensure ignition switch is in RUN position. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between windshield washer fluid level switch harness connector terminals "A" (Black/White wire) and "B" (Black wire). If LOW WASH indicator illuminates, go to step  4 . If LOW WASH indicator does not illuminate, go to next step.
  10. Repair poor connection, open or short to voltage in Black wire between windshield washer fluid level switch and ground. Recheck system operation.
  11. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Leave jumper wire connected as specified in step 8)  . Disconnect instrument cluster Gray 24-pin connector. Using DVOM, check resistance between instrument cluster harness connector terminal A4 (Black/White wire) and ground. If resistance is 0-3 ohms, go to step  7 . If resistance is not 0-3 ohms, go to next step.
  12. Repair poor connection, open or short to voltage in Black/White wire between instrument cluster and windshield washer fluid level switch. Recheck system operation.
