Low Wash Indicator Is Inoperative Or Inaccurate
NOTE:
To prevent any misdiagnosis, zero DVOM before taking any measurements.
- If LOW WASH indicator illuminates when washer fluid level is okay, go to step 3 . If LOW WASH indicator does not illuminate when washer fluid level is okay, go to next step.
- If LOW WASH indicator does not illuminate when washer fluid level is low, go to step 8 . If LOW WASH indicator illuminates when washer fluid level is low, system is operating properly.
- Disconnect windshield washer fluid level switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If LOW WASH indicator illuminates, go to step 5 . If LOW WASH indicator does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Replace windshield washer fluid level switch. Recheck system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster Gray 24-pin connector. Using DVOM, check resistance between instrument cluster harness connector terminal A4 (Black/White wire) and ground. If resistance is 0-3 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 0-3 ohms, go to step 7 .
- Repair short to ground in Black/White wire between instrument cluster and windshield washer fluid level switch. Recheck system operation.
- Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
- Disconnect windshield washer fluid level switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between windshield washer fluid level switch harness connector terminal "A" (Black/White wire) and ground. If LOW WASH indicator illuminates, go to next step. If LOW WASH indicator does not illuminate, go to step 11 .
- Ensure ignition switch is in RUN position. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between windshield washer fluid level switch harness connector terminals "A" (Black/White wire) and "B" (Black wire). If LOW WASH indicator illuminates, go to step 4 . If LOW WASH indicator does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Repair poor connection, open or short to voltage in Black wire between windshield washer fluid level switch and ground. Recheck system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Leave jumper wire connected as specified in step 8) . Disconnect instrument cluster Gray 24-pin connector. Using DVOM, check resistance between instrument cluster harness connector terminal A4 (Black/White wire) and ground. If resistance is 0-3 ohms, go to step 7 . If resistance is not 0-3 ohms, go to next step.
- Repair poor connection, open or short to voltage in Black/White wire between instrument cluster and windshield washer fluid level switch. Recheck system operation.
