Driver Information Display Switches Are Inoperative
NOTE:
To prevent any misdiagnosis, zero DVOM before taking any measurements.
- Connect scan tool. Using scan tool, check for instrument cluster DTCs. If no DTCs exist, go to next step. If any DTCs exist, go to SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Driver Information Display (DID) switch connector. Using DVOM, check resistance between DID switch harness connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire) and ground. If resistance is 0-3 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 0-3 ohms, go to step 4 .
- Using DVOM, check for continuity between indicated DID switch harness connector terminals while pressing specified button. See DID SWITCH CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS
. If continuity is as specified, go to step 5
. If continuity is not as specified, go to step 6
.DID SWITCH CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS
DID Switch Continuity Between Terminals No. MODE Button 2 & 3 RESET Button 1 & 2 E/M Button 2 & 4 - Repair open in Black wire between DID switch and ground. Recheck system operation.
- Disconnect instrument cluster Gray 24-pin connector. Using DVOM, check for continuity between DID switch harness connector terminal No. 3 (Pink wire) and instrument cluster harness connector terminal A9 (Pink wire). Check for continuity between DID switch harness connector terminal No. 1 (Orange wire) and instrument cluster harness connector terminal B11 (Orange wire). Check for continuity between DID switch harness connector terminal No. 4 (Light Blue wire) and instrument cluster harness connector terminal A6 (Light Blue wire). If continuity exists at all of these terminals, go to step 7 . If continuity does not exist at all of these terminals, go to step 8 .
- Replace DID switch. Recheck system operation.
- Using DVOM, check for continuity between DID switch harness connector terminal No. 3 (Pink wire) and ground. Check for continuity between DID switch harness connector terminal No. 1 (Orange wire) and ground. Check for continuity between DID switch harness connector terminal No. 4 (Light Blue wire) and ground. If continuity exists at all of these terminals, go to step 9 . If continuity does not exist at all of these terminals, go to step 10 .
- Repair open in appropriate circuit between instrument cluster and DID switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
- Repair short to ground in appropriate circuit between instrument cluster and DID switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
- Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
