Driver Information Display Switches Are Inoperative

NOTE: To prevent any misdiagnosis, zero DVOM before taking any measurements.
  1. Connect scan tool. Using scan tool, check for instrument cluster DTCs. If no DTCs exist, go to next step. If any DTCs exist, go to SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM  .
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Driver Information Display (DID) switch connector. Using DVOM, check resistance between DID switch harness connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire) and ground. If resistance is 0-3 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 0-3 ohms, go to step  4 .
  3. Using DVOM, check for continuity between indicated DID switch harness connector terminals while pressing specified button. See DID SWITCH CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS  . If continuity is as specified, go to step  5 . If continuity is not as specified, go to step  6 .

DID Switch Continuity Between Terminals No.
    MODE Button 2 & 3
    RESET Button 1 & 2
    E/M Button 2 & 4
  4. Repair open in Black wire between DID switch and ground. Recheck system operation.
  5. Disconnect instrument cluster Gray 24-pin connector. Using DVOM, check for continuity between DID switch harness connector terminal No. 3 (Pink wire) and instrument cluster harness connector terminal A9 (Pink wire). Check for continuity between DID switch harness connector terminal No. 1 (Orange wire) and instrument cluster harness connector terminal B11 (Orange wire). Check for continuity between DID switch harness connector terminal No. 4 (Light Blue wire) and instrument cluster harness connector terminal A6 (Light Blue wire). If continuity exists at all of these terminals, go to step  7 . If continuity does not exist at all of these terminals, go to step  8 .
  6. Replace DID switch. Recheck system operation.
  7. Using DVOM, check for continuity between DID switch harness connector terminal No. 3 (Pink wire) and ground. Check for continuity between DID switch harness connector terminal No. 1 (Orange wire) and ground. Check for continuity between DID switch harness connector terminal No. 4 (Light Blue wire) and ground. If continuity exists at all of these terminals, go to step  9 . If continuity does not exist at all of these terminals, go to step  10 .
  8. Repair open in appropriate circuit between instrument cluster and DID switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  9. Repair short to ground in appropriate circuit between instrument cluster and DID switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  10. Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
