Driver Information Display Does Not Step Dim When Parking Lights Are On

NOTE: To prevent any misdiagnosis, zero DVOM before taking any measurements.
  1. Disconnect instrument cluster Gray 24-pin connector. Move headlight switch to PARK position. Move headlight dimmer switch to maximum intensity. Using DVOM, check voltage between instrument cluster harness connector terminal A5 (Yellow wire) and ground. If reading is 10-14 volts, go to step  4 . If reading is not 10-14 volts, go to next step.
  2. Using DVOM, check voltage between fuse block terminal H10 (Yellow wire) and ground. If reading is 10-14 volts, go to next step. If reading is not 10-14 volts, locate and repair problem in interior dimming system. See appropriate wiring diagram in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  3. Repair poor connection or open in Yellow wire between instrument cluster and fuse block. Recheck system operation.
  4. While observing DVOM, move headlight dimmer switch to minimum intensity. Record new voltage reading. If voltage drops, go to next step. If voltage does not drop, locate and repair problem in interior dimming system. See appropriate wiring diagram in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  5. Check voltage between instrument cluster harness connector terminals A5 (Yellow wire) and A1 (Black wire). Voltage should be same as voltage reading in step  4 . If voltage is as specified, go to step  7 . If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
  6. Repair poor connection or open in Black wire between instrument cluster and ground. Recheck system operation.
  7. Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
